This year, the Met Gala's theme is "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty" takes the anticipation for fashion moments up a notch. In honor of the late designer, the Met Gala and the costume exhibition will trace Lagerfeld's prolific career in fashion, film, photography, and art.
Dressing on theme is not a request, but an expectation. While other galas during the month call for black tie, the Met Gala lives on the lines: "more is more." Most men of the evening thought it to be best to play on the designers very own uniform. James McAvoy and Edward Enninful, for example, wore a look reminiscent of Lagerfeld's signature black jacket, vest, and tie look. Co-Chair Roger Federer donned sunglasses, as did Tom Ford. The only thing missing? The ponytail.
